For a crawling baby in hot weather, look for a double-layer muslin romper or playsuit: loose woven cotton lets air move, flat seams won't rub at the knees, and the loose weave dries fast after spills or sweat. A cotton set works too if you want to mix and match.

We made these for our own kids, who spent most of hot afternoons crawling around on mats and floors. Muslin's loose weave is what makes it work: it breathes, dries fast, and gets softer every time you wash it. A playsuit or romper means no waistband digging in while your baby is on all fours.

No, that's the point of the open weave: it lets air pass through even when your baby is active and warm. It also dries quickly if she gets sweaty or spills something on herself.
Wash it cold on a gentle cycle and either tumble dry low or hang it up. Skip the fabric softener and high heat, and the fabric will keep softening instead of wearing out.
