Breathable muslin cotton sun hats for babies and toddlers, made for Bali beach days and park life.
The scalp, the ears and the back of the neck are the first places a baby burns and the hardest places to reapply sunscreen on a moving target. A wide brim covers all three passively, which is why a hat does more real protective work than long sleeves for most of a tropical day. Muslin keeps the head from becoming a heat trap in the process — the reason a lot of babies pull off a thicker hat within a minute.
The brim is cut wide enough to shade the face at the angles that matter — mid-morning and mid-afternoon, when the sun is high but not overhead. Sizing is by age with room to grow; a hat that is slightly loose stays on better than one that grips, because pressure is what makes a baby reach up and remove it.
Hand wash or a cool gentle cycle, and reshape the brim while damp before laying it flat to dry. Do not tumble dry a hat — the brim is the one part of the range where heat can set a shape you cannot undo.
