In a hot climate, plan for about seven to ten light pieces per size so you can go two or three days between washes. Muslin cotton dries fast, so you do not need a huge stash, just enough for daily changes plus a spare set for spills and the odd blowout.

We get this question a lot from parents moving to Bali or anywhere warm for the first time. There is no single right number, it comes down to how often you want to do laundry and how many spit ups you are working around. Here is what we tell friends who ask us directly.
Our simplest piece, good on its own or under something else when it is warm out.
Two matching pieces, handy when you want a full outfit ready without extra thought.
One piece, no matching needed, quick to get on a wiggly toddler before you head outside.
Still muslin, so it stays breathable at night, even though nights in a hot climate rarely turn cold.
