Muslin is cotton woven in a loose, open weave, so the gaps let air move through the fabric instead of holding heat against your baby's skin. That makes it a good pick for hot, humid places: it stays lightweight, breathes well, and dries fast if it gets damp from sweat, a spilled drink, or a quick rinse in the sea. Go for loose layers over anything tight, and cover shoulders and arms rather than leaving skin bare in direct sun.
Our pieces are double-layer muslin cotton, pre-washed before they ship so they arrive soft and ready to wear, not stiff out of the bag. Seams are sewn flat so nothing rubs on a wriggly baby, and we use child-safe dyes with no harsh finishes. Muslin creases easily, so if a romper looks a bit rumpled after being packed in a suitcase, that's just how the fabric behaves, not a flaw. Sizes run roughly newborn to 4 years, so you can usually pack for the whole trip in the same range.
On the road, wash cold on a gentle cycle and tumble dry low or hang to dry, skip fabric softener and skip high heat, both make the weave stiffer over time. We ship worldwide with tracked delivery, so if you're packing for a trip, order with enough lead time for it to arrive before you leave. If sizing doesn't work out, unworn pieces can be returned within 30 days. We're a small family business, Vanessa and Bob, designing from Bali, and we dress our own kids in the same clothes we send you.
