Muslin is cotton woven in a loose, open weave. The gaps in the weave are what make it breathable and lightweight, and the fabric keeps softening the more you wash it, so a piece that feels a bit stiff out of the box gets cozier over time. That is one reason it shows up so often on baby registries: it is comfortable for a baby to wear and easy for a parent to launder without much thought.
Our clothes are made from double-layer muslin cotton, and we pre wash every piece so it arrives soft instead of stiff. Seams are sewn flat so there is nothing scratchy pressing against the skin, and we finish everything with child safe dyes and no harsh finishes. Care is simple: machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, then tumble dry low or hang to dry. Skip fabric softener and skip high heat. The fabric wrinkles easily too, that is normal and not a flaw.
Sizes run roughly newborn to 4 years, so you can pick a size ahead of when the baby will actually wear it, which helps since newborn clothes get outgrown fast. We ship worldwide with tracked delivery, and if something does not fit or is not right, unworn items can be returned within 30 days. We are Vanessa and Bob, a small family business designing these in Bali, and we make the kind of clothes we wanted for our own kids.
